The Director of Rafik Hariri University Hospital Dr. Firas Abiad said on Tuesday that there is a significant increase in the number of Coronavirus patients in hospital care units, as more than 950 cases are now in the Intensive Care units.
“The reopening of the country and the lack of commitment of citizens increased the cases," he added during an interview with state-run National News Agency.
He also pointed out that the closure is “very exhausting economically, psychologically and socially,” adding however that it will become a necessity if Coronavirus cases increase.
On another note, he stressed that the vaccination process is not taking place at the required speed in order to secure a community protection as soon as possible, due to the lack of vaccines that reach Lebanon.
“All countries are waiting for vaccines from vaccine-producing companies, and unfortunately, Lebanon’s share so far is very small,” he stressed.
