Rai: Elections gave citizens dose of hope for positive change
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai said on Sunday that the parliamentary elections led to a new national atmosphere that gave citizens a dose of hope for positive change that would encourage the international community, including the Arabs, to help Lebanon seriously to get out of its economic distress and existential crisis.
Rai’s comments were made during his Sunday’s sermon whereby he highlighted the country’s security turmoil, the return of the fuel crisis, bread crisis, the loss of medicine, high prices, and manipulation of the lira and the dollar after the elections.
“Isn’t it supposed to happen the other way around, with what was missing would be secured and what was expensive becoming cheap?” he asked.
