Iran's Roknabadi says four abducted diplomats still alive in Israeli jails

                
Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, accompanied with a delegation of the families of the four abducted diplomats, visited on Thursday Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in order to tackle this outstanding file.           

On the 31st anniversary of the abduction of the four Iranian diplomats, Roknabadi said that "they are likely still alive in Israeli jails."           

In turn, the Vice President of Iran and Head of Center for Women and Family Participation Affairs, Maryam Mojtahed Zadeh, held the Lebanese State responsible for revealing the circumstances of the aforementioned case.             

On July 4, 1982, four Iranian nationals identified as Ahmad Motevaselian, Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam and Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped by a group of Israel-backed gunmen at a checkpoint in northern Lebanon.           

During the 15-year civil war in Lebanon (1975-1990), Christian and Muslim militias fought each other and conducted kidnappings.          

Iranian and Lebanese officials have pointed out that the issue will be addressed on an international level.           

For its part, Israel has not released any information about the four missing Iranians.
