The body of Myriam Achkar put to rest

Sahel Alma paid farewell on Wednesday to the young Myriam Achkar who was murdered on Monday near the Covent of Saydat Baklouch as the city of Jounieh shut its stores in condemnation of this crime.

Relatives, friends and fellow scout members gathered in Mar Nohra Church to pay farewell to Myriam and to pray for the repose of her soul.

Fathi Jabr Salateen had earlier confessed to the crime after three hours of investigation conducted by Judge Dany Chrabieh and Jounieh judicial police.

Chrabieh countered him with the evidence and data that the ISF had gathered, leading to the confession of the criminal who admitted that after attempting to rape Myriam, the victim threatened to report him. He killed her, fearing to be revealed.

On top of that, well-informed sources told LBCI that the criminal perpetrated the crime alone without any accomplices, unlike some circulating information.

In turn, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told LBCI that nothing deters similar crimes except punishing the perpetrator.
It is reported that the Covent of Saydet Baklouch is owned by the Khazen family, and the Syrian worker occupies one of its abandoned rooms and works as a janitor for a resident of Sahel Alma who maintains and labors the nearby land.
