Head of Chamber of Trade to LBCI: Lebanon faces a "social explosion"

The Head of the Chambers of Trade, Industry and Agriculture Mohammad Choucair said on Friday that Lebanon faces a "social explosion" unless the Lebanese state helps to handle the deteriorating economic situation.

He also noted that the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon put further burdens of the shoulders of the Lebanese state.

The UN Higher Council for Refugees (UNHCR) said in August that the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon receiving aid from the government, the UN and its NGO partners has reached the threshold of 703,000.

Chouccair's comments were made in an interview with Nharkom Said TV show in which he stressed that the sole solution for Lebanon's pending issues is the formation of a new government that would deal with the security, economic, social and daily issues of the Lebanese people.
