Minister Azzi to LBCI: Support for President Sleiman must be real
Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi said Sunday that the Baabda Palace “does need special care and support, since it symbolizes the highest constitutional authority in Lebanon,” noting that supporting President Michel Sleiman must be real.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Azzi pointed out that “President Sleiman did not refer by his statement concerning the wooden equations to the Army, people, and resistance formula, but he was referring to all wooden equations the Lebanese people have been living with since 1960 until today, and which hinder the Lebanese political life.”

On another note, while he stressed that the discussions of the ministerial statement drafting committee are being conducted calmly, he noted that the problem does not lie in the drafting or the language of the statement but in holding on the national principles of the Lebanese Stateز

“Recognizing the Lebanese State is not defeat,” he said, urging the committee’s members to hasten the issuance of the ministerial statement.

However, Azzi said that in case agreement fails to be reached over the ministerial statement, the country will face a political crisis, not a constitutional one, which will prove that Lebanon suffers from a difference in perspective regarding the concepts of a state and resistance between the parties.
