Lebanese army arrests 10 Syrian nationals in Arsal

Lebanese Armed Forces members arrested on Friday 10 Syrian nationals in the Arsal region of Wadi Hmeid, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Most of the detainees were attempting to enter the Lebanese territories with forged identification papers, the agency said.

The northeastern town of Arsal has been grappling with a series of bomb attacks, shelling from the Syrian side and ongoing attempts by Syrians to infiltrate into Lebanon.

It is also host to thousands of Syrian refugees who have set up tented settlements on the outskirts of the town.

This comes as a result of the fighting taking place in Syria between Syrian government troops and rebels seeking to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.
