France ready to meet demands of Lebanese Army – Ministry spokesman
French authorities voiced on Tuesday their readiness to meet the demands of the Lebanese Army after Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Major General Jean Kahwaji called on Paris to speed up the delivery of weapons and arms as part of the Saudi grant to Lebanon.

In this regard, French foreign ministry spokesman Vincent Floreani stated that the ministry is holding contacts with its partners to meet the demands of Lebanon, stressing France’s full support to the Lebanese army.

Floreani said in an electronic press conference that France was behind the initiative of the international support group for Lebanon, stressing that a major part of this initiative is related to strengthening Lebanon’s military capabilities.

For his part, LAF Commander Kahwaji told Agence France Presse (AFP) that clashes in Arsal require equipment that the army does not have, highlighting the importance of providing Lebanon with the necessary material to confront terrorism.

Last December former President Michel Sleiman announced that Saudi Arabia had pledged $3 billion to buy arms for the Lebanese Army from France to help support and strengthen the military.
