Central Bank of Lebanon to issue new banknotes as of Aug.1
The Central Bank of Lebanon announced Friday that new L.L.50,000 banknotes will go into circulation as of August 1st marking the 70th anniversary of the Lebanese army’s foundation.

The banknotes carry the signatures of both Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh and First Vice-Governor Raed Charafeddine.

In a statement, the bank clarified that the new notes measure as equally as the ones currently in use, noting that the military institution’s slogan is imprinted on the papers’ front side with the depiction of a soldier hoisting the Lebanese flag.

The new notes, made of polymer, also display a memorial for LAF martyrs, with number “70” written in white as well as a wheat spike, a symbol of the sacrifices made by the institution.
