Released Lebanese detainee embraces his family at last

Lebanese detainee Hussein Ali Omar finally embraced his family on Saturday after a long hard time.

Omar arrived to his home in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs where the joyful crowds gathered to greet him.           

In an interview with LBCI, Omar explained how he was transferred yesterday to a different area and said that Abou Ibrahim’s group informed him that the rest of the detainees will be released within 5 days.        

Hussein Ali Omar arrived Saturday afternoon to Beirut Airport on a Turkish private plane. His family as well as political and security figures and the relatives of the Lebanese detainees in Syria were there to welcome him.      

Omar stated from the airport that the rest of the detainees are all in good shape and urged the Turkish government to exert more efforts to release them.  He also expressed his gratitude to Lebanese media, especially LBCI and New TV, when the two TV stations went to the Syrian-Turkish border to cover the detainees’ story.      

In this context, Minister of Interior, Marwan Charbel, who was among the crowds welcoming Hussein Omar, reported that he was assured that the rest of the Lebanese detainees in Syria are all well and hoped that with the help of the Turkish authorities, they will be released as soon as possible. Charbel also added that the case of the detainee Hassan Mokdad shall be pursued until he's released.
