Introduction to the evening news 03-09-2012
Maybe it’s the first time civil society groups succeed at organizing a demand campaign, not lost within the array of unachievable dreams.

The non-smoking law is similar to the resolution of forming a national committee to address the issue of the Lebanese detainees in Syria - giving hope for similar civil campaigns for change, albeit faint.

While some are criticizing the law others are calling for its amendment, yet disregarding its advantage seemingly since low tourism police are needed to impose it.

The campaign has succeeded in banning smoking in public areas. Change has succeeded in imposing itself, paving the way for other much needed laws such as the right for Lebanese women pass down their nationality to their children, as well as granting women the right to a law a law that prohibits domestic violence.

Lebanese youth will have the right to vote at the age of 18, as well as the state granting the right to civil marriage alongside a comprehensive health plan.
Maybe this is too much, but addiction begins with a cigarette, and so does change.
