Hariri was not ready to discuss any amendments whatsoever-Lebanese presidency

The Lebanese presidency issued on Thursday a statement after the meeting that was held between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri.

“President Aoun submitted to the Prime Minister-designate his remarks on the proposed line-up, asking him to discuss making some amendments in order to return to the agreement reached through the efforts deployed by Speaker Nabih Berri,” the statement said.

The statement added that Hariri “was not ready to discuss any amendments whatsoever,” noting that he proposed that Aoun take one more day to accept the suggested lineup.

However, Aoun replied that "one additional day is useless if the door to discussions was closed," according to the statement.

The president will set a date for parliamentary consultations to name a new Prime Minister-designate as soon as possible after Hariri stepped down.
