Information Minister Georges Kordahi said “the meeting with Berri did not tackle my resignation,” in comments following his visit to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.
He pointed out that “opinions are split regarding the resignation, as some are with while others are against,” noting that the “matter was blown out of proportion.”
“I do not cling to any position and I am neither challenging Prime Minister Najib Mikati nor Saudi Arabia,” Kordahi added, noting that Mikati had urged Kordahi to put national interest above all else.
Kordahi went on to say that “If we get the guarantees that I have informed Patriarch al-Rahi about, then I am ready. I do not want to challenge anyone, and we are studying the matter to see how things go."
This comes following remarks of Kordahi about the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen that sparked a diplomatic rift between Lebanon and Gulf countries.
