Berri receives Armenian President in the presence of March 14 MPs

Speaker Nabih Berri received at his residence in Ain El-Tineh on Tuesday Armenian President Serge Sargsyan. Berri and Sargsyan held a meeting in the presence of foreign ministers Adnan Mansour and Edward Talbazian of Armenia. Armenia's ambassador to Lebanon Ashot Kocharian and media adviser Ali Hamdan were also present in the meeting.

In honor of the Armenian President, Berri held a lunch banquet, in the presence of March 14 MPs, PM Najib Mikati, FPM leader Michel Aoun and Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali.

Following their meeting, Sargsyan said that "the developments in the region have had a negative impact on Lebanon."

In this context, Berri stated that Lebanon "has been a second homeland for the Armenians" and urged all Lebanese politicians to commit to the Taif Agreement and to sit together to settle differences while distancing the country from the Syrian crisis.

Berri added that the whole region is facing hard times, emphasizing that "the Lebanese civil war experience proved that no party can eliminate the other."
