Rai from Missouri: Paris statements were taken out of context

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai said that the statements made in Paris were taken out of context, adding that the comments made by the Lebanese president and PM were based on the official report submitted by the Lebanese Ambassador to France, who was present during all meetings.

From Saint Louis Cathedral in the state of Missouri, Rai said that the French Embassy’s official report revealed that the remarks were a media stunt used by some to ignite frenzy.

Rai ruled out claims that his media reports raised the issue of fears over the Maronites presence in the Middle East.

Rai also chaired a meeting that started Wednesday morning and will end Friday evening. This meeting will pave the way for a Maronite conference for the American continent.
