The Grand Blue Campaign cleans Lebanon's shores

The Grand Blue Campaign was launched on Sunday morning in Beirut in a bid to clean the seashores and raise awareness over the necessity of preserving Lebanon's shores clean.

More than 6000 volunteers mostly formed of school pupils, college students, members of sports and scouting clubs partook in the campaign.

Boats, divers, Red Cross, Civil Defense and environmental NGOs partook in the campaign as of Rawsheh to remove surface and underwater garbage accumulated on the city shore and sea bottom.

Government, army and security top officials along with the Naqoura sector UNIFIL peace-keepers were also present during the campaign.

Walk with Us Association Program and Reverte cleaned the seashore extending between Rawsheh and Ramlet al-Bayda, while Sukleen took care of composting and recycling of the garbage collected during the Campaign.
