REPORT: Economic Committees sound the alarm on state of Lebanese economy

The Economic Committees issued Tuesday a warning to all Lebanese politicians calling on them to assume their national responsibilities in order to reactivate the national economy.     

“Enough waste of the core components of the Lebanese economy, enough manipulation of the fate of citizens,” the members said.           

In this context, the head of the Economic Committees Adnan al-Kassar explained that the new call launched by the Gulf States on their nationals to refrain from traveling to Lebanon is very dangerous, urging the Lebanese politicians to commit to the policy of dissociation in regards to the Syrian crisis.                 

In speeches delivered during the gathering, the Economic Committees' officials stressed that the current situation is very critical, calling on President Michel Sleiman to present an “economic Baabda Declaration” which aims at dissociating the Lebanese economy from the regional crises, supporting its productivity and competitiveness and preventing it from falling into stagnation.                   

Accordingly, the Economic Committees declared that they will be staging escalatory movements should the government fail to heed their call.
