In a world dominated by technology and social media, the interests of the teenagers have become limited to these websites that began defining their social life, the most popular among which are Facebook, Twitter and Intagram.

In this regard, a new survey conducted by investment bank Piper Jaffray concerning the children’s social media preferences showed that teens have abandoned Facebook in favor of Instagram and Twitter.

The study, which also tackled the change in the teens’ preferences over the last six months, showed that Facebook’s fall from grace has been sudden, adding that from being used by 72% of teens during the spring, it is now used by 42%.

However, Instagram has become more popular, with 76 percent of teens currently saying they prefer it, registering an increase of 7 percent since last spring.

Other platforms like Pinterest and Tumblr claimed around 20 percent each.

As for another 20 percent of teens, they said they use 'other' social networks, not covered by the survey but likely to include some popular anonymous messaging services and the disappearing-message app Snapchat.

The survey also revealed that more than 9 out of 10 American teenagers regularly use social media.

In another annual fall survey of 7,200 teens conducted in classrooms and electronically, Apple remains the top consumer electronics brand preferred by teens.

In the details, about 67 percent own iPhones, while a great number of the teens said their next device will be an iPhone.

As for the smartwatch device, only 7 percent of teens said they already own a smartwatch, and just 16 percent said they would be interested in paying $350 to buy the Apple Watch.
