Lebanese movie Warsha wins Grand Prix at the 2022 Żubroffka Festival
The short film Warsha from award-winning Lebanese writer and director Dania Bdeir won the Grand Prix of the 2022 Żubroffka Festival.

The festival selected the Lebanese film among 122 movies, which competed for the 16th edition of Żubroffka International Short Film Festival.

“In the realm of scaffolding, building cranes, working uniform jumpsuits, and masculinity, the main character discovers a dangerous yet secluded place where they can finally let themself go and embrace the fluidity within them,” the festival’s jury expressed.

Warsha stars Mohammad Khansa, who plays the role of a crane operator working in Beirut.

One day, he volunteers to shift on one of the tallest and most dangerous cranes in Lebanon, where he can live out his secret passion and find freedom away from people’s eyes.

As the winner of several awards, namely the Jury Award at the prestigious 2022 Sundance Film Festival, the short film was selected at major film festivals worldwide.
