Lebanese film “Thiiird” selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam
The prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) gives four films from the MENA region the opportunity to screen their films for its 52nd edition.
Among the films selected, the movie “Thiiird” by Lebanese Karim Kassem will have its world premiere for the festival’s 2023 Tiger, Big Screen, and Ammodo Tiger Short competitions.
Born and raised in Beirut, Karim Kassem is an award-winning filmmaker working between the U.S. and Lebanon on films, music videos, and commercials.
Shot in black and white, “Thiiird” talks about the life of a mechanic, Fouad, who runs his garage in a town outside Beirut. While waiting for their vehicles to be repaired, his customers are invited to sit and drink coffee, while the garage becomes a place to express their despair amidst the economic crisis.
