Obama meets relatives of Nelson Mandela in South Africa

U.S. President Barack Obama met with family members of ailing former South African leader Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The meeting took place at the Nelson Mandela Center of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

This as South African riot police clashed with protesters in Soweto shortly before the said visit, a Reuters photographer said.

Armed police fired stun grenades to disperse the crowd of several hundred protesters, who had gathered outside the Soweto campus of the University of Johannesburg, where Obama was due to address a town hall meeting with students.
