Yemen rejects apology of commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

The Yemeni government rejected the apology presented by Qassim al-Rimi, commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, who said that one of his fighters disobeyed orders and attacked a hospital attached to the Defense Ministry during a December assault that killed 52 people, including foreigners.

In this context, Yemeni analysts said that the apology presented via a video posted on some websites was an attempt by al-Qaeda to alleviate the brutality shown in the surveillance cameras inside the complex and that caused a public outrage.
