Donkey enters elections in Bulgaria
A Bulgarian political party officially submitted the candidacy of Marko the donkey in the mayoral elections of the Black Sea city of Varna. The burden animal’s candidacy is in protest of the incumbent mayor (a human), and his stubborn performance that has drawn the ire of the city’s residents.

The “Society of New Bulgaria Party” will present Marko’s candidacy in the election, coming up next month.

Party leaders announced that their decision was taken after realizing that Marko stands a better chance of representing the city than incumbent mayor Kiril Yordanov, whose performance was dismal, according to the party.

According to local media, the donkey enjoys qualities that the incumbent mayor lacks, which are: a strong personality, honesty, steadfastness, and above all, Marko is a “donkey of his word”.
