EU begins work on expanding sanctions on Iran, says official

Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief, said on Tuesday that some member states of the bloc have requested to expand the scope of sanctions on Iran in response to its attack on Israel, explaining that the Union's diplomatic body will begin work on this proposal.

Borrell made these statements after an emergency video conference of Union foreign ministers to discuss the repercussions of the Iranian attack.
