Introduction to the evening news 06-02-2012

Tomorrow is another day… On Tuesday, the Syrian situation will take shape since the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Head of Russian Intelligence Mikahel Vradkof to Damascus will end. Everyone is holding their breath for the visit will determine the course that the regime will take and the opposition’s reaction.

This anticipated visit comes at a time when military operations have ramped up as heavy weapons enter the picture. It is as if there were a race between diplomatic efforts and on the ground gains. No signs point at “mysterious diplomacy” that Damascus will witness tomorrow, no signs point at the outcome of military operations during the last few hours. All that remains is a few killed and injured.

On the Lebanese front, the last few hours did not point at any joint efforts except for two events. The first event is PM Mikati’s visit to Speaker Berri and the second the visit of a Hezbollah delegation to MP Michel Aoun.

From Moscow, we will begin with the atmosphere prevailing over the Russian capital on the eve of the visit of a diplomatic-intelligence delegation to Damascus.
