Cave diver tells of risks involved in searching submerged hull of stricken ship
A group of volunteer cave divers have joined in the search for the missing passengers of shipwrecked cruise liner Costa Concordia off the coast of Giglio Island.

These specialists are familiar with high-risk rescue missions underwater in caves.

Their experience working in deep muddy waters and hard to reach places is particularly useful to help rescue teams still searching for 21 missing passengers from the Costa Concordia.

In an interview with Associated Press, cave diver Gian Luca Ricciadulli described in detail the difficulties of the search.

He said the divers went deep into the ship following the elevator shaft.

He noted that although they were going down floors in the ship, they were swimming horizontally, many times with glass doors over their heads.
