How long will cabinet sessions be suspended?
Each party clung to its position with regards to the ministerial crisis and its triggers.

While the prime minister’s team maintains that Mikati’s perspectives are grounded in the constitution and the preservation of the stipulated prerogatives, the Change and Reform bloc states that its views stem from the desire to preserve Christians rights.

In this context, State Minister Ahmad Karami told LBCI that he will not accept sectarian quotas in appointments, adding that the prime minister will not budge on his position. “It has become a delicate issue for the prime minister”, he said.

“Should the bickering continue during each cabinet session?”, he wondered.

On the other hand, Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud said that Mikati’s decision to suspend the cabinet sessions strengthen the Christian aspect of the Change and Reform bloc.

Abboud told LBCI that there is no need for mediation between the bloc and Mikati, for it is not the bloc who suspended the sessions.

The tourism minister added that “Mikati had other reasons to take such a decision. However, he chose the wrong reason to suspend the cabinet session.”
