REPORT: Minister Harb says to reject any company not meeting required conditions to operate mobiles

Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb stressed that the ministry works to serve the best interests of the country and the people, away from shady deals.

“Why they chose this timing to raise all the issues of the telecom sector? Is it because the ministry put an end and uncovered all corruption files?” he asked.

During a press conference, Harb stressed that his ministry will not accept any company to operate the mobile phones that does not enjoy all the required qualifications, calling on those seeking to employ certain companies for political reasons to do so in other ministries.

In the same context, the minister added that he extended the term of the mobile operators (alfa and touch) “because there is an attempt to hinder the tender and prevent it from being held,” explaining that he did not sign the contract of Ogero before the approval of the Court of Audit.

Commenting on the presidential elections, he said that these elections should have taken place more than two years ago.
