President Michel Aoun expressed relief over the reactions of the political leaderships and popular and trade union bodies, after his decision to delay the parliament session for one month, in accordance with the Article 59 of the Constitution.
President Aoun hoped that the deadline he set through his decision will be an opportunity, during which an agreement will be reached over a new electoral law that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese people.
“The Lebanese people will have a new electoral law as I promised in my oath, and I have confidence that the political forces will intensify their contacts and meetings to reach this law,” he said when receiving guests at Baabda palace.
