Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said Tuesday noted that the course of the electoral law will become clearer before May 29, stressing that the parliamentary election will be held before the end of the year.
Al-Mashnouq’s comments came as an answer the United Nations special coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag, who stressed the importance of these elections.
Kaag met the minister at his office at the Interior Ministry where they discussed the latest security and political developments on the local and regional scenes, as well as means to reach an agreement over a new vote law.
The ambassador emphasized the need to hold the parliamentary elections given its importance, pointing out that this process will strengthen the security stability and contribute to reviving the economic cycle, promoting development and reactivating the public services.
