According to the “International Society Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery,” Lebanon ranks 24 in terms of number of cosmetic surgeries per year.
18500 aesthetic plastic surgeries are performed in Lebanon every year, or more than 120 surgeries per month.
These surgeries can pose many risks should the standard medical criteria fail to be fulfilled.
Plastic surgeries contribute with 15% of the touristic spending in Lebanon; and these surgeries witness a growth of 20% per year, a newspaper said.
These figures appear in a country where the unemployment rate has recently reached 36%, and the minimum wage is LBP 675 thousand.
