Prime Minister Saad Hariri considered on Thursday that it is in Lebanon’s interest to maintain a distance from regional tensions between the allies and to search for ways to protect Lebanon’s and its citizens’ benefit.
Hariri’s comments were made during a Cabinet session at the Grand Serail whereby he pointed out that “Lebanon is an active part of an International alliance against terrorism,” adding that the country is playing its role in protecting its people, borders and sovereignty through its own security forces.
Hariri also stressed on the importance of the need for the funeral of the fallen servicemen to be “an occasion of national unity that shouldn’t be turned into a political division,” calling on everyone “to elevate to the level of their heroic soldiers and to distance themselves from small political bickering because ISIS is the one responsible for this crime.”
