REPORT: Court of Publications issues sentence against owner of Lebanon Debate website
The Court of Publications headed by Judge Elie Helo issued on Friday a sentence to imprison Michel Qanbour, owner of Lebanon Debate website for 6 months and fining him with 10 million LBP.

The sentence was issued after Director General of Lebanese Customs Badri Daher filed a lawsuit against Qanbour.

In a phone call with LBCI, Qanbour said that the sentence was issued in absentia, adding however that he knew about the lawsuit through media outlets.

He noted also that he asked his attorney Georges Khoury to request a retrial before the issuance of the sentence but the judge refused his request.

Qanbour voiced surprise that he was not notified back then despite that the address off his office and residence are well known.
