Former Minister Ziad Baroud said Sunday that the governments that came after the Taef Accord were national unity cabinets and a smaller version of the parliament, noting that this is the reason behind the difficulty in the formation.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Baroud stated that the delay in the cabinet formation raises fears of security, economic and political difficulties, “especially that Lebanese stands before several challenges.”
Commenting on the choices that President Michel Aoun has to face this delay, the former minister stressed that the president has a large margin to act in this regard, mainly in determining responsibilities.
He also ruled out the possibility that the issue of ties with Syria would reflect on the cabinet formation, pointing out that the crisis is on the formation level, not on the policy statement.
