Civil aviation denies Fox News report saying Iranian airline smuggling weapons through Beirut airport

The Directorate General of the Civil Aviation denied in a statement on Tuesday, a report by Fox News claiming that an Iranian civil aviation company Fars Qeshm Airlines had been smuggling weapons into Lebanon through Beirut airport.

"The Directorate General of the Civil Aviation absolutely denies such claims, and asks media for accuracy before publishing any news on the airport," the statement read.

The Directorate explained that Qeshm Fars Airlines was an Iranian company that had already applied before the Civil Aviation in Lebanon to operate two airfreight flights between Tehran-Damascus-Beirut-Doha, and that the carriage merely consisted of cattle.
