Virgin Mary Statue in Jbeil draws hype, cries tears of oil and blood
The President of the Ontoch of St.John-Marc, Jbeil, Father Elias al-Andary and other parish priests explained on Saturday the phenomenon reported by the media Friday night on the statue of the Virgin Mary that “cried tears of blood and oil”. According to Father Andary, the tears are a result of natural factors due to the closeness of the statue to the sea. Andary added, that no traces of oil and blood, as shown in some pictures published on social media websites, were found.            

Father Andary and other priests called on the people to be careful, accurate and to pray to the Virgin Mary to protect Lebanon and bless the visit of Pope Benedict XVI, hoping that the media would verify the information related to Church matters with the competent references prior to publishing.
