Medical body denounces offense of Dr. Ghassan Obeid

The medical and nursing body of Aley, Metn, and Choueifat staged on Thursday a sit-in outside al-Iman Hospital, Aley, to denounce attacking the physician Ghassan Obeid at a security checkpoint in the city.

Former member of the Doctors’ council, Doctor Salam Memari, and the Secretary of Lebanon’s Order of Physicians Doctor Sami Raychouni delivered speeches, during the sit-in, on behalf of “friends of Doctor Ghassan Obeid”.

Doctor Ghassan Obeid was attacked at a security checkpoint in Aley, when his driver attempted to skip the checkpoint for an urgent case. Obeid was heading to Beirut to have urgent dialysis due to the deterioration of his health.

The protesters called for revealing all the circumstances of the incident which took place at the checkpoint, and to take legal action against the offenders.
