Former army commander Gen. Ibrahim Tannous dies at the age of 83

Former Army Commander General Ibrahim Tannous died on Wednesday at the age of 83.    

General Tannous, born in Kobayat, is married with four children.                   

He joined the army in 1952 as a cadet officer and progressed to the rank of General Army Commander on the 8th of December 1982.                      

Later on, he was exempted from his post upon his request and was put at the disposal of the Minister of Defense.                 

He retired from the Lebanese Army in July 1988.
