Fatah and Hamas agree on launching consultations to forge national unity government

A Fatah official in charge of the reconciliation file, Azzam el Ahmad said on Thursday that both Hamas and Fatah agreed on the mechanics of ending the Palestinian division, setting a timetable for the implementation of the agreement.            

Accordingly, the Palestinian election commission is to resume its work in both the Gaza strip and the West Bank by the end of this month.          

It was also agreed to kick off consultations to form a unified Palestinian government.
