REPORT: Activists express solidarity with shopkeepers of Tripoli

Dozens of activists staged on Saturday a protest outside the shop of citizen Rabih Sleiman, to express solidarity with the owners of shops burnt in Tripoli and to denounce sabotaging the stores of Alawite citizens. This movement comes within “Tripoli weapon free city” campaign.

The coordinator of the campaign Samer Anous criticized the way the authorities dealt with the damages, noting that the officials asked the affected people not to “touch anything and leave the scene as it is until the arrival of the High Relief Commission.”

“One threat or one gunshot is enough to turn the city and half a million citizens into a paralyzed entity and victims, as if the politicians have forgotten Tripoli, especially Bab al-Tebbaneh, Jabal Mohsen and al-Kobba which are the poorest regions in Lebanon,” he said.

Anous stressed that the residents of Tripoli can cooperate to rebuild what has been destroyed.
