Mikati calls on donor countries to aid the Lebanese government

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati renewed on Tuesday his call on the international community to cooperate with Lebanon regarding the file of the Syrian refugees; stressing the importance of setting standards for newcomers to Lebanon.

During a conference held at the Grand Serail and attended by United Nations’ High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres and Non-Governmental Organization, Mikati called on donor countries to commit to the financial obligations pledged during the Kuwait summit.

Mikati also urged these countries to aid not only the concerned humanitarian organizations, but also the Lebanese government.

“The ongoing Syrian crisis is affecting Lebanon’s stability, its civil peace, and social situation in general,” Mikati said
