Wildfire rages across the town of Jdaydet al-Kayti’
 
A wildfire erupted on Wednesday on the outskirts of the Jdaydet al-Kayti’ town, Akkar, blazing through forests and orchards as residents and the Civil Defense units work tirelessly on extinguishing the raging inferno.

Earlier this summer, several forest fires erupted in North Lebanon, specifically the Akkar region where thousands of hectares were left scorched and barren.

Lebanon is known as a tourist destination for its scenic green mountains that offer cool summer vacations.

The country's natural wealth, including its large water resources, have traditionally been a main source of income for residents of tourist regions and local farmers.

However with forest fires seemingly on the rise, Lebanon's forests have decreased to less than 11 percent of its total area.
