Caretaker PM Mikati meets FPM ministers over file of displaced peoples in Lebanon

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met on Monday with a number of Ministers belonging to the Change and Reform bloc, and discussed with them the file of the displaced Syrians and Palestinians in Lebanon.

Following the meeting, caretaker Minister of Energy Gebran Bassil wished from Lebanese leaders "to respond to the bloc's point of view pertaining to the file of displaced persons and refugees."

The United Nations said in mid-April that the number of Syrian refugees flocking into Lebanon is estimated at 450,000, and the inflow surpasses the capacity of the country by all means.

The largest surge of Syrian refugees has been seen in North Lebanon and the Bekaa valley where their living conditions continue to deteriorate as many of them are living in overcrowded and unsanitary circumstances that are causing diseases and infections.
