Sleiman: democracy saves Lebanon from turmoil in the region

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said democracy, which distinguished Lebanon decades ago, saved the country from the turmoil running throughout the Arab world for the past 11 months.

Sleiman's word came on Monday upon receiving at Baabda Presidential Palace a delegation of the new Council of Attorneys Syndicate, headed by newly elected chief of Syndicate Nuhad Jabr.

Separately, Sleiman received Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel who briefed him on the security situation in Lebanon.
