Jumblatt hopes Iran nuclear deal will open opportunities for Arab world

The head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt stressed Monday that the Iranian nuclear deal aims at opening new opportunities for the Arab and Islamic worlds, hoping that an Arab-Iranian dialogue will take place in order to end the cycle of violence and counter-violence, which has taken on a sectarian aspect.

In his weekly editorial in al-Anbaa website, Jumblatt hoped that the Iranian agreement will keep the specter of war away from the region and will put an end to the Israeli practices.

On another note, the PSP leader said that a political solution in Syria is inevitable, adding that it must ensure the protection of the institutions and the Syrian Army, after holding accountable all those who were involved in committing crimes against the Syrian people.

In this context, he stressed that the genuine goals of the Syrian revolution have been stolen and subjected to distortion.

On the Lebanese scene, MP Jumblatt said that the statements launched by President Michel Sleiman, who said that some parties are involved in an armed conflict in a neighboring country, intersect with the initiative of Speaker Nabih Berri who called for ending the Lebanese intervention in the Syrian crisis.

This as he called on the resistance to commit to its main goal and assist the Lebanese army in defending the country against Israel, ruling out any link between the attack that targeted the Iranian embassy in Beirut and Hezbollah’s intervention in Syria.

On the other hand, Jumblatt stressed the need to raise the level of cooperation between the different security apparatuses, especially amid reports stating that groups affiliated with al-Qaeda organization have entered Lebanese.

“Security must be restored, since the situation is witnessing an unprecedented deterioration due to the wide political division between the Lebanese parties, the institutional paralysis and the delay in the cabinet formation,” he continued.
