Body of US national found in Sannine
Security Forces found the body of American John Redwine, born in 1978, in the village of Shakhroub in Sannine. Redwine was reported missing in Wata Al Jawz in the brush land of Keserwan while hiking. Two helicopters dispatched by the Internal Security Forces intervened to scour the mountainous area and search teams equipped with highly trained rescue dogs patrolled the outskirts of Wata Al Jawz, Nahr Al Dahab and Rashiin.

Following an extensive night search conducted by the ISF, no trace of him was found. A group from the U.S. embassy joined forces with the ISF after information was spread about the possibility of finding his car in the surroundings of Wata Al Jawz.

When Redwine was not found, the ISF headed along with the group from the U.S. embassy to Sannine to continue the search in hopes of finding him. His cellphone went out of service because his battery was low.

The body of Redwine was found in Zahta region in Sannine Bin Taltin, near a cave only known to those who go to the mountainous area. It was confirmed that the body is that of U.S. citizen Redwine. A helicopter is working on recovering the body and transferring it to the forensics to uncover the causes of death.

Redwine, who hails from Iowa, has held several posts in Lebanon. Both he and his wife Bentis work as consultants for the U.N. Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
