President Sleiman says LAF in urgent need of military equipment

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman has pinned great hopes on Rome's technical conference taking place today in the run-up for the meeting of the International Support Group for Lebanon, also to be held in the Italian Capital of Rome in June, 2014.

"The Lebanese Army Forces are in urgent need for equipment and support, given the great challenges they are facing and the security plans being carried out to maintain stability across the Lebanese territories," Sleiman said.

Separately, President Sleiman praised the Parliament's decision to grant Civil Defense volunteers full-time jobs.

The Parliament passed on Wednesday a law granting the Civil Defense volunteers employment at the governmental institution, following a skills test.

MP Nawaf al-Mousawi congratulated the members of the Civil Defense units, stressing that the deputies assumed their national responsibility by passing this law.
