Antiochian Conference urges international community to safeguard Lebanon’s stability
The closing statement of the Antiochian Conference called on the international community to heed the incidents taking place in the Levant, mainly in Syria, and to safeguard peace and stability in Lebanon.

Saturday’s statement also urged the international community to call for the election of a new Lebanese president as well as the release of all abductees, and especially the two bishops who were kidnapped in Syria.

On the 22nd of April 2013, Bishops Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church and John Ibrahim of the Assyrian Orthodox Church were kidnapped while they were traveling outside the northern city of Aleppo.
