Court rejects lawsuit filed against TL
The lawsuit filed against Tele Liban over its broadcast of the World Cup has been rejected on Friday.

Prior to the court session, chairman of the board of Lebanon's official television station Tele-Liban, Talal el-Makdessi, reiterated the right of the Lebanese people to watch the World Cup matches.

In turn, attorney Nizar Saghieh filed an intervention lawsuit in favor of Tele Liban on behalf of former minister Charbel Nahhas and other citizens considered as "affected by the ban on World Cup broadcasting".

BeIN Sports company filed a lawsuit against the state-sponsored television channel Tele Liban (TL) on the backdrop of broadcasting the 2014 World Cup games.

Earlier last month, cable television provider Sama warned any cable provider or TV channel that attempts to broadcast World Cup matches without its consent will not be tolerated.

The cable provider, who had gained the exclusive right to broadcast the World Cup from beIN Sports, also threatened to prosecute whoever shows the games without its permission.
