The state-run National News Agency reported on Friday that the Lebanese army prevented 11 injured Syrian nationals from entering Lebanese territories in the region of Hasbaya in line with a decision taken by the Lebanese government last month not to accept any refugees from the neighboring country.
The agency added that Syrian factions tried to bring the wounded to Lebanese hospitals from the heights of Mount Hermon. But they were obliged to go back to the Syrian town of Beit Jen after troops stopped them at the border, the agency added.
On October 23, the government declared that it would not accept any more refugees from Syria, except in what the authorities deem to be “exceptional” cases.
Lebanon hosts more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees while there are over 3 million Syrian displaced persons from the war, mainly in neighboring countries such as Turkey and Jordan.
Another 6 million have been displaced within Syria, making it one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
